Ron Johnston

Belle Vue Speedway is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Aces captain Ron Johnston.

Originally from Dunedin, New Zealand Johnston immigrated to the UK in the early 1950’s and soon established himself at Belle Vue as one of the club’s finest riders.

Kids have a Ball at Belle Vue

Despite the heartache of recent weeks, the Belle Vue 'Rentruck' Aces have kept their heads held high to make life just that little bit more exciting for young children up and down the country.

Last week they welcomed Poltair School, all the way from St. Austell, Cornwall, to Kirkmanshulme Lane with a speedway spectacular against Wolverhampton.

Aces Disappointed in Defeat

Belle Vue's undefeated home record lies in tatters tonight after Elite League title-chasers Swindon battered them down to a 41-49 defeat in one of the closest meetings in Manchester so far.

The Rentruck Aces found themselves playing catch up right from the word go as the visiting Robins capitalised on an uncharacteristically slow start from the home team to take control of the meeting.

Aces 41 Swindon 49

The Aces unbeaten home run has been brought to an end by Swindon Robins tonight.

The Aces were 4 points down going into heat 15 and still had the chance of a draw, but Swindon scored a 5-1 to take the win 49-41.
