Worrall Sets Sights On British Final

Steve Worrall is relishing the prospect of launching his British title bid on home turf at Newcastle but admits there are plenty of strong characters standing between him and final qualification.
The likes of 2016 British Champion Danny King and recently crowned 2017 British U-21 Champion Robert Lambert also line-up in the first of the two British semi-finals on Sunday April 30.
Belle Vue captain Craig Cook is also determined to make good on his promise to go one better this season and will face off against equally stiff competition in Semi-Final 2 at Sheffield on May 4.
The top eight finishers from both will progress through to the prestigious British Final on June 19 to be held at the National Speedway Stadium, Worrall’s second home from home with Belle Vue.

Of the upcoming Semi-Final, he said: “It’s great to see Newcastle hosting such an important event and hopefully with my prior knowledge of the track I can have myself a successful meeting.
“The field is very strong. In my eyes it’s the stronger of the two semi-finals and to be honest, you can’t really look at it and immediately pick out the eight riders who could potentially through.
“Hopefully I’ll be one of them but it is a really tough line-up so I’ll have my work cut out and i’ll be drawing on all my experience to give myself the best chance of qualification. There’s no easy race.
“It would mean a lot to me to have another shot at the British title. I came fourth last year so I’d love to go one better, but before I make any plans for the final my focus is on qualifying on Sunday.”
Worrall is back in action for Belle Vue this bank holiday Monday, May 1, when the Rentruck Aces take on the Somerset Rebels. Tickets are available online now at www.bellevueaces.co.
