No Underestimating Hitmen's Challenge

It’s back to full strength for the Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts when they journey to Buxton on Sunday afternoon and they’re hoping to score big after just missing out at Lakeside on Friday.

The ‘Addison Engineering’ Hitmen have had one of the most challenging starts after two big losses to Stoke and Kent, with their home clash against Belle Vue being only their third meeting so far.

They are of course targeting a turn in fortune against the Cool Running Colts and leading the charge is a man many Mancunian fans will already be familiar with, Bury lad Matt Williamson.

The hosts will be short one rider at No.3, Lee Dicken, who remains sidelined with concussion after crashing out of Buxton’s last home match with Stoke. The club will operate Rider Replacement.

Rob Shuttleworth resumes his heat leader position for the visiting Colts and team boss Steve Williams says that despite the Hitmen’s lack of track time, they can’t afford to underestimate them.

He said: “Buxton is a track all of our boys are quite familiar with so we’re hoping to have a good meeting there, particularly after just missing out on a consolation point at Lakeside on Friday.

“Track craft played its part on the night, in that our boys weren’t as well versed as the home side but I don’t feel that will be an issue come Sunday and I’m sure it’ll be an entertaining meeting.

“The Hitmen haven’t had the benefit of as much time on the track as we’ve had but even so, our lads never take any challenge lightly; it doesn’t matter who you’re against or which track you’re on.

“Without Lee Dicken they may be slightly weaker than normal but they’re there to do a job as much as we are and we’ll be going into this with the same determination to win as we always do.”

The Belle Vue Colts return to action at the National Speedway Stadium this Wednesday, May 10, against the Lakeside Hammers. Tickets on sale now at
