Aces Ready To Resume Title Chase

Team boss Mark Lemon is eager to resume Belle Vue’s Premiership title chase against Swindon this coming Friday, May 19, and is confident of a great meeting in prospect against the Robins.

It’s been a quiet month for the Rentruck Aces, who were last in action against Somerset on May 1, yet despite their sparse calendar the team still sits comfortably within the league’s top four.

Lemon said: “We’ve watched Wolverhampton take the lead at the top of the Premiership but as we've got matches in hand it’s only served to keep the boys pumped up for our next meeting.

“Our performance against Somerset means we’re fresh off the back of a blip and in racing terms you want to get back into action as soon as physically possible to put the wrongs to right.

“It’s seems like ages ago since the Belle Vue Aces were last on track so I absolutely can’t wait for this Friday’s clash with Swindon, and I think the boys are equally excited to get back to racing.”

Kenneth Bjerre makes a welcome return to the National Speedway Stadium at No.3 after missing the club’s last couple of home fixtures due to unavoidable clashes in his native Denmark.

Lemon continued: “It’s disappointing the way fixtures unfolded but Kenneth put in a fantastic performance to qualify through to the SGP Qualification Semi-Finals later this year.

“In fact, there’s been a lot of fantastic developments amongst our riders since we last saw them with both Max Fricke and Craig Cook also through to the next round of SGP Qualifications.

“Justin Sedgmen got his wish to double up in the Championship after signing for Ipswich, and both Cookie and Steve Worrall made it through to the British Final on June 19 in Manchester.

“It’s an awesome achievement to race in your National Championships but for these two guys to be gunning for gold in front of their home team is even better. I’m really pleased for all these guys.

“The fact that everyone has been keeping busy bodes well for us on Friday because we won’t be race-rusty. We’re ready to resume our title chase, hopefully with a win against Swindon.”
