Stoke In Town For Sizzling Local Derby

Dan Bewley is looking forward to resuming Belle Vue’s National League campaign at the National Speedway Stadium when the Cool Running Colts take on Stoke in a mouthwatering local derby.

The team is now anxious to get back on track, as a win on Friday would see them reclaim their place at the top of the table while establishing a 2-point cushion over Cradley and Birmingham,

They are currently nestled comfortably in the top three but with four fixtures spread throughout the next seven days, Bewley is determined to help his side make a strong start to this busy period.

He said: “I’m looking forward to getting the boys together again and getting our season back on track. It was a busy month early on but things have been a little bit quiet for the team recently.

“I’ve only had one other meeting for the Aces and a couple for Glasgow so I’m glad to be rounding off May with a straight run of fixtures and hopefully we can bring in some good league points.”

Temperatures are forecast into the high 20s on Friday in what will be the hottest day of the year so far and track preparation is well underway for what Bewley has tipped as a scorching meeting.

The Cool Running Colts have already encountered the Potters once this season, at their Loomer Road home where they recovered a 9-point deficit to come away with a brilliant 44-45 victory.

They will track a full-strength side on the night with only one change to the visiting line-up. Jon Armstrong will deputise at No.1 for Mitchell Davey, who is on Championship duty with Edinburgh.

Bewley continued: “It’s hard to tell how Stoke will perform when they come to our track. Max Fricke described it as a level playing field and I’d have to agree given how close racing has been so far.

“We beat the Potters at their place a few weeks ago and that was a hard-fought win but it shouldn’t suggest they won’t come here and do the same. We certainly won’t be underestimating them.”

Tickets are available online at The club will be observing a minute’s silence in memory of the those who died in the Manchester Arena tragedy during the rider presentation.
