Poole A Priority

Belle Vue will resume their Premiership campaign at the National Speedway Stadium with all guns blazing as they target a big win over rivals Poole to bolster their position in the league table.
The Rentruck Aces were left frustrated and disappointed in wake of last week’s visit to Somerset and are hoping to re-establish their iron façade at home against the Volvo Cars Pirates on Friday.
The two sides have already met in Manchester during the Knock Out Cup, where Belle Vue not only claimed a significant 57-33 victory but also sent their rivals packing from the competition.
This time around, Poole will field an unusual line-up with Troy Batchelor guesting at No.1 for Polish semi-finalist Grzegorz Zengota.
Plus, with injury victim Nicolai Klindt now ruled out and with the Rentruck Aces revving at full strength, team captain Craig Cook says his side have “no excuses” for not producing the goods.

He said: “I don’t believe our result at Somerset will have any effect on our meeting against Poole. We’ve beaten them at home before and there’s no reason we can’t repeat that success.
“The Pirates are not a team to be underestimated, as they have proved in the past. They are a quality side and even without Kasprzak, I’m sure they will be one of our toughest opponents.
“Our lack of fixtures in May means we’re only just clinging onto fourth in the table, and Poole incidentally are the team breathing down our necks! We cannot afford to give them an inch.
“We’re a very capable team in terms of making the Play Offs this year and we remain dedicated to that goal. There were a couple of hiccups last month but that’s over with now, it’s time to move on.”
