Goodwin: 'Kings Will Test Us'

The Belle Vue ‘Cool Running’ Colts are targeting six home wins out of six on Wednesday when Kent come to Manchester as they bid to reclaim their place at the top of the National League table.
After a break from racing for over a fortnight, rivals Eastbourne have gone 4 points clear with a match in hand over the Cool Running Colts but a win on the night would narrow that gap to just 1.
And they’ll have more than ample fire power to help them with the news that Rob Shuttleworth is back in the 7-man team after a lengthy spell off due to injury, though Lee Payne remains benched.

Kent meanwhile are also expected to be at full strength apart from one guest booking, Mitchell Davey, in place of Luke Bowen and are determined to stamp their authority all over proceedings.
But Colts boss Graham Goodwin knows how difficult that’s been for teams who have so far visited the National Speedway Stadium and states it won’t be getting any easier, despite the break in racing.
He said: “Our lads are so dialled into the track, it’s almost scary. Our priority is to win all our home meetings but having said that, I feel that Wednesday will be our toughest to date in Manchester.
“Unfortunately we still don’t have Lee Payne as a result of his shoulder injury, but we’re delighted to have Rob Shuttleworth back in our side; and he’s excited to finally be back with the rest of the boys.
“Kent are a very strong team and have a solid contingent of riders from top to bottom. They have a brilliant guest in place of the injured Luke Bowen, Mitchell Davey, who is very good around our track.
“I think the Kings will push us very hard, there’s no doubt about it. They’re wanting to make up for lost time and what better way to do it than to come here and get some points on the board?”
Premiership action returns to Manchester next Friday, July 14, when British No.1 and Team GB skipper Craig Cook brings his Belle Vue ‘Rentruck’ Aces home to face the Swindon Robins.
