Colts Are Pumped For The Play Offs

The Belle Vue Colts wrap up their National League fixtures away from home with a visit to Kent on September 4th as they bid to add one last cluster of points to their league table tally.

Though their place in the play offs is already cemented, the Cool Running Colts are emulating the efforts of the senior Aces to make a statement to their rivals ahead of the imminent semi-finals.

Dan Bewley, along with the skipper Lee Payne, again misses out as a result of last Monday’s injury at Wolverhampton, which forced him out of Saturday’s World U-21 round in Rybnik.

Eastbourne remain hot on their tail as the battle for top spot continues. The Eagles, with three matches in hand, are poised to take the lead should the Mancunians fail to gain any further spoils.

But one of those involves a big finale in Manchester when the southerners will close the National League campaign at the National Speedway Stadium against Belle Vue on September 23.

Rob Shuttleworth leads Kents Jack Thomas

It guarantees an explosive end to the calendar before the play offs commence and top gun Rob Shuttleworth says his side are very much looking forward to their upcoming clashes.

He said: “There’s still so much to do and so much to play for in the coming weeks. Everyone is thrilled to have made it into the play offs this year but we’ve still a job to do until then.

“Kent are a strong team and still capable of influencing the final line-up for the semis. They still have a shout, mathematically, so I’m certain they’ll be giving 100 percent , as of course will we.

“The team is a bit patched up but Graham and Steve have done a great job in sourcing the guests, and both Jon Armstrong and Danny Ayres couldn’t be better choices for this meeting.

“It’s been a brilliant season for us and we desperately want to finish it successfully. Sittingbourne is a great track and one we enjoy riding. We’re wanting at least a point, if not more, from the trip.”
