King Of The Premiership?

Max Fricke says he’s feeling confident ahead of Saturday's Premiership Riders’ Individual in Manchester after bursting back onto the competitive scene with Belle Vue in their KOC semi-final.

The 21-year old has been sidelined for nearly six weeks after fracturing his neck during a Swedish league match, but returned in peak form to top score for the Rentruck Aces on Thursday evening.

All eight top flight club’s will be represented in the Premiership’s flagship individual event at the National Speedway Stadium, with British Champion Craig Cook also appearing for the Aces.

GP regulars Jason Doyle and Fredrik Lindgren, as well as British talisman’s Scott Nicholls, Chris Harris and Robert Lambert are only a handful of the 16 superstars in action on the night.

But Fricke, in addition to continuing to build on his remarkable return, is aiming to make the most of the extra track time ahead of Belle Vue’s play off semi-final against Wolverhampton on Monday.

Speaking from Germany, where he took part in the “Night of the Fights” meeting in Cloppenburg, he said: “It’s a skilful field which, with the proximity of the play offs, is a good thing I suppose.

“We’re so determined to win the league at Belle Vue that, if nothing else, it’ll provide not only some extra laps but also the opportunity to go up against guys who are in the same position we am.

“Freddie [Lindgren], Jason [Doyle] and Hans [Andersen] are three very strong candidates from title-contending teams and I’m sure they will be scoping out our track as much as they are trying to win.

“In reality, it’s another meeting and all the guys will be wanting to impress. Myself, I’ll take it as it comes. I’m feeling good in myself, I’m fully recovered and just eager to get on with the job.”

The best of the best gather on September 16 for individual league honours, and on September 18 Wolverhampton head to Belle Vue for Leg 1 of semi-final two in this year’s league championship.

Tickets for both these mouth-watering fixtures, and the second leg of the Aces’ Knock Out Cup clash are available online at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium ticket office on race night.
