Semi Brings Sense Of Déjà Vu

An epic re-enactment of last year’s Premiership Grand Final is brewing in Manchester and Belle Vue skipper Craig Cook is calling for his team’s most powerful display against Wolverhampton.

With no chance of meeting the reigning champions in this year’s finale, it’s either one or the other that will progress to meet the victor from Swindon and Poole to decide the 2017 top dogs.

In an ironic twist, Saturday’s Premiership Riders’ Individual ended with Belle Vue duo Cook and Max Fricke versus Wolves pair Freddie Lindgren and Jacob Thorssell for individual honours.

The mutual respect between the two factions was evident ahead of their next big showdown on September 18, with both sides in agreement that it guaranteed to live up to play off expectations.

Rentruck Aces’ captain Cook said: “We’ve had some awesome meetings against Wolverhampton over the years and Monday night will be no different. They’re our closest neighbours after all.

“And for our play off semi-final to have all the hallmarks of our “local” derby, it just gives it that extra layer and I know that myself and all the boys are really looking forward to this one.

“It means of course that we won’t have the chance to face them in the final this year, which is a bit disappointing but if we can bump them out at this stage over two legs then so much the better!

“I’m not going to speculate as to the kind of margin we’d like to take to Monmore Green. It’s all about ensuring we present a strong front, and prove our point that we deserve to be here.

“There’s no one out there who wants to see this club succeed more than me. I want to bring the league title to Belle Vue so badly. The boys have worked so hard for it; they definitely deserve it.”

It’s that time of year when the Belle Vue boys need their eighth man, and tickets for this epic play off semi-final are selling fast. Grab yours today at www.bellevueaces.co, and on race night.
