No Challenge Too Great For Revved Up Aces

Belle Vue are itching to launch their Premiership title contention against reigning champions Wolverhampton and are more than prepared for the challenge they face at Monmore Green.

The first leg had been due to take place in Manchester last Monday, but not even the National Speedway Stadium’s behemoth circuit could cope with the onslaught of inclement weather.

But, says Kenneth Bjerre, that postponement could well play into the Rentruck Aces’ hands as he believes the pressure is now on the Wolves to come up with a bigger performance than his side.

That’s not to suggest the Mancunians won’t be aiming high, continues Bjerre, as they look to tap into their affinity for the Monmore circuit to come away with a credible margin ahead of Leg 2.

He said: “We know what Wolverhampton are capable of doing at home. They’re a strong team and aren’t in the top four for nothing, but of course neither are; we’re not making up any numbers.

“Each time we’ve gone there this year, we’ve only come away 8 points short of victory and I’m sure they’re well aware of this and the form we’re currently in. We’re definitely pumped up for this.

“But we’ve got to be realistic. I’m not going to predict any results or declare our preferred margin, either way. We’ve got our game plan, we know what we’ve got to do and we’ll give it 100 percent.

“We’ve proved time and again how handy we are over two legs. Our result over Swindon in the KOC confirms that. But like I said, I believe the pressure’s on them to perform bigger than us.”

The return leg of this 2016 Grand Final replay takes place at the National Speedway Stadium less than 48 hours later, where the Rentruck Aces aim to secure their spot in this year’s big finale.
