Lemon: 'Rule Us Out At Your Peril!'

Aces team boss, Mark Lemon, insists it’s “only half time” in Belle Vue’s intensive play off semi-final against Wolverhampton and is confident his side will rally strongly in Wednesday’s return leg.

After battling valiantly at Monmore Green, the Rentruck Aces now know where they stand when they return to the National Speedway Stadium with 13 points the difference to make up.

But it’s far from the double-digit deficit that was handed to them in 2016 and they will no doubt be boosted by their recent KOC demolition of Swindon, after recovering an 11-point disadvantage.

Unfortunately for the visitors, Jacob Thorssell, who sustained a broken back in a gnarly collision with Rohan Tungate will be missing from the Wolves septet, with R/R in effect for the 24-year old at No.4.

Despite Thorssell’s absence, there will be no change to the Rentruck Aces’ game plan, says Lemon, as he targets a big performance from his boys after an uncharacteristic display at Monmore Green.

He said: “This team has an uncanny ability to respond well under pressure. Just looking at how they handled themselves against Swindon last week tells me they’re capable of big surprises on the night.

“Monday wasn’t the most auspicious of nights but this is the play offs. Everybody steps it up a notch at home so we need to follow suit at the National Speedway Stadium if we’re to keep our hand in.

“Wolverhampton will be buoyed by their performance at home so they will I’m sure be confident going into the latter stages of this meeting. But I wouldn’t yet rule our boys out for one minute.

“The guys know as well as I do that we’ve worked too hard for too long to throw in the towel. We know we deserve to be in that grand final so we’ve certainly got a point to prove come Wednesday.”

The return leg of this explosive semi-final takes place in Manchester in less than 48 hours, where the Rentruck Aces aim to secure their spot in this year’s big finale against the Swindon Robins.
