Game On In KOC Combat

Contrary to popular belief, Belle Vue remain an exceptionally busy club in the coming October as the Cool Running Colts get set to launch their Knock Out Cup semi-final battle with Mildenhall.

The team took a pounding in their Play Off semi-final at Lakeside but maintained a strong resolve despite being short four of their regular riders, three of whom were riding for the Rentruck Aces.

But they remain quietly confident ahead of the return leg in Manchester next Friday, October 6, in which they hope to extend their unbeaten home record and launch themselves into the final.

Equally high on their agenda is that second all-important piece of silverware in the Knock Out Cup, with a spot against either Eastbourne or Plymouth up for grabs in the looming grand final.

Team boss Graham Godwin said: “Mildenhall have got a couple of injury worries at the moment which have put both Danny Halsey and Connor Mountain out of Sunday afternoon’s meeting.

“It presents us with an opportunity to make a strong impression, particularly as we’ll have almost our entire team, minus Lee Payne, back together again which is really encouraging news.

“We’re looking forward to this one. Mildenhall is a tricky track and until you turn up you don't know what kind of track you’re going to get so it’ll certainly be a challenge for our boys.

“But we’re not afraid to tackle all types of conditions. It is unusual that they wanted us to come to them first, as usually you prefer to run the second leg at home, but we’re not fussed to be honest.

“We’ll be aiming to eep things as close as possible ahead of the second leg. We value the KOC as highly as the league title so we’ll be doing everything in our power to get ourselves to the final.”

The Belle Vue Colts also have plenty to do in the second leg of their play off semi-final against Lakeside if they hope to continue their pursuit of the National League title this year.

They are back in action in Manchester next Friday October 6 at 7:30pm. Tickets available now at or from the ticket office
