Another close match, this time at Smallbrook Stadium, saw Belle Vue Colts add to the impressive start to their season by taking a consolation point from their 48-42 defeat at the Isle of Wight.
The visitors started strongly, putting in a 5-1 in Heat 3 to take the lead after drawing the opening two races while keeping the home team at bay until their fight back began at the halfway stage.
But despite the Wightlink Warriors taking control of the meeting, they were unable to widen the gap to anymore than 4 points in the build up to Heat 15, where a final 5-1 sealed the scores.
Guest No.1 Danny Ayres put in a solid performance for the Mancunians, scoring 12 points from five appearances while Joe Lawlor added 9+1 and Kyle Bickley finished his night with 8+1.
Team boss Graham Goodwin said: “We came here wanting a point at minimum, so in that respect we accomplished our mission but at the same time we have mixed feelings about the result.
“Towards the end, there were a few controversial decisions where our riders were being excluded for what, we felt, was the fault of the opposing riders, which ultimately cost us vital points.
“But those decisions are final and we can’t change that. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed with what we saw from the boys tonight. They did themselves proud with their performance.
“Joe, Kyle and Ben [Woodhull] all had fantastic nights, the guests did a brilliant job and Paul [Bowen] and Kean [Dicken] showed great improvement as the meeting went on.
“We are slightly disappointed not to have taken the win but the boys put in 100 percent effort and showed great potential, and as a team manager you can’t ask for more than what they gave.”
The Rentruck Aces return to Manchester against Poole on April 16 ahead of their trip to King’s Lynn on April 18, while the Colts resume their home campaign against Buxton on April 20.
Tickets for both home meetings are available online at www.bellevueaces.co, or at the stadium box office on race night.
