Clash Fit For Kings

Belle Vue will face a stern challenge in their upcoming Premiership fixture against King’s Lynn on Monday, May 21 as they look to close the gap on current league leaders the Swindon Robins.

But the Rentruck Aces have the added advantage of welcoming back newly-crowned British U-19 champion, Dan Bewley, who secured the title with a flawless 15-point maximum at Ipswich.

They will, however, have to do it without the services of Craig Cook and Max Fricke, who are both in Abensberg, Germany for the fourth 2019 FIM Speedway Grand Prix qualification round.

Team boss Mark Lemon has therefore called upon Poole’s Brady Kurtz and Josh Grajczonek as the two guest replacements, while Jason Garrity covers for the injured captain Steve Worrall.

Earlier this weekend, Rentruck Aces’ top guns Bewley and Rohan Tungate partook in the first GP qualifiers in Slangerup and Lonigo respectively and finishing on 6 and 8 points, again respectively.

It means that, though the home is slightly patched up and with inspiration from the high-flying British U-19 champion, they have more than ample gas in the tank to get the job done.

2018 Aussie champion Tungate said: “I think the King’s Lynn boys will have a point to prove because their impact on the bigger picture so far hasn’t been as significant as they’d hoped.

“They’ve got some pretty big hitters with Iversen, Lambert and Jorgensen so we’ll have our work cut out for sure, and for us being without Craig, Max and Steve it’ll be even more of a challenge.

“But Lemo’s got some great guests and we don’t make a habit of backing off when the going gets tough. We’ve got a home record to defend and while there’s points on offer we’ll fight for them.”

It’s a busy week for Belle Vue with the Rentruck Aces at home on Monday May 21 before heading down to Somerset on May 23, with the Cool Running colts at home to Eastbourne on Friday May 25.

Tickets for both home fixtures are now available online at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race night.
