Aces' Bank Holiday Sizzler

Belle Vue is set to bask in brilliant sunshine on Bank Holiday Monday, the perfect stage for their first clash with old rivals Wolverhampton at the NSS, beginning at the earlier time of 12:00pm.

There is a slight shuffle to home team’s riding order, with Dan Bewley set to debut at No.2 for the Rentruck Aces, thanks to his current form, while Damian Dróżdż moving down to the No.7 spot.

Workington’s Nicolai Klindt steps in to cover for the injured skipper Steve Worrall, a smart choice given his current form scoring 18 points on his recent outing for the Thomas Armstrong Comets.

In a replay of last year’s Knock Out Cup Final, the Rentruck Aces now commence their title defence against the very team who fought so hard to take it from them at the close of 2017.

The Black Country outfit has been dominant in their opening gambits. Like Belle Vue, they are so far undefeated at home with their only loss, and a close one at that, away to Rye House.

Team boss, Mark Lemon said: “We’ve seen some out-of-this-world racing already from the boys this season and Wolverhampton, we know, very much like our track so the challenge is on.”

“We need to make sure that we’re pulling in the results at home. Seldom does it happen that a team goes undefeated all season at home but we need to make sure we get off to a good start.

“We want to take a sizeable lead into the second leg. We’ve had some epic battles with Wolves and, being our local team, they never fail to disappoint on the excitement front.”

The Rentruck Aces welcome back reigning Premiership Champions Swindon to the National Speedway Stadium on Monday, May 14 in their first league clash of the 2018 season.

Tickets are available online now at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race night.
