Seeing Double

It’s a double-whammy for Belle Vue on Wednesday, with Premiership and National League action against Rye House and Birmingham respectively as the battle for the Play Offs continues.

The Rentruck Aces make the journey to Hoddesdon off the back of a spectacular match against Wolverhampton on Monday, where they safely secured their place in the 2018 KOC semi-finals.

Meanwhile, the B. P. Mitchell Rockets have maintained a solid home record that does not do their league rank justice, a trend that they are determined to maintain against the Mancunians.

Team boss Mark Lemon said: “We have our objectives for meetings like these, and the bottom line is that we absolutely must be picking up points on the road wherever they’re available.

“That’s what makes the difference between teams who make the top four and teams who don’t, but that’s not something I need to repeat to the boys because they know the score.

“Their calmness and focus on Monday spoke volumes about their attitude to our objectives. We have good momentum behind us and that’s something we aim to continue a Rye House.”

The Cool Running Colts are delighted to welcome back Paul Bowen for their trip to Perry Barr on Wednesday, where they are focused on taking every point they can squeeze out of the meeting.

Birmingham have made a solid start to their league campaign even despite the loss of skipper Mitchell Davey, and Bowen says his side are prepared for a tough battle against the Brummies.

He said: “It will be a challenging night for us. Birmingham are very strong at home, but they do have their weaknesses and when our lads are firing together we believe we can beat anyone.

“Perry Barr is different to our home track, but we have the benefit of Jack Smith’s experience to  help guide us and I think with our momentum at the moment we have a very good chance.

“I personally am so excited to be back with the team. It was frustrating to be out for so long and I’m determined to make up for lost time. I feel good and I’m ready to do my bit for the boys.”

There are two big fixtures brewing in Manchester over the weekend as the Cool Running Colts clash with Birmingham on June 22, while Rentruck Aces face the Poole Pirates on June 25.

Tickets for both home meetings are now available online at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race night.
