On the Wimborne-Road Again

Belle Vue are aiming high when they travel to Wimborne Road on Wednesday, July 4 where the Poole Pirates await their challenge on the Dorset coast as the battle for the top four intensifies.

The Rentruck Aces had the final say on both occasions that the Pirates visited the National Speedway Stadium, and even gave them a serious scare on home turf earlier this season.

But with the top four separated by just 5 points, and Poole languishing near the bottom, it is a high-stakes meeting for both teams where every point is critical to the current league situation.

The visitors operate R/R at No.2 with Jason Garrity out injured, while Rohan Tungate and Poole’s Nicolai Klindt are competing in the Danish league. Scott Nicholls and Nico Covatti guest respectively.

Skipper Max Fricke insists that the pressure is off his side however, stating: “The team is in good form right now. We had two excellent away wins in June, plus a win over Poole at home last week.

“I don’t believe we’re the ones under pressure in this meeting. We’re in a good position and we’ve proven to ourselves that we’re capable of winning away from home, so that is a settling thought.

“But we know how quickly things can change so there’s no taking anything for granted. It’s not like the Pirates to be floating around the bottom of the table so they’ll definitely be on their game.

“But we’ve had a good meeting at Wimborne this year already. We pushed them hard and came so close to the win, so I don’t see why we can’t go one better and finish the job this time around.”

The Rentruck Aces return to Manchester on Monday, July 9 against the Swindon Robins before the Cool Running Colts take on Stoke at the National Speedway Stadium on Wednesday, July 11.

Tickets for both home meetings are now available at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race night.
