There’s a score to settle between Belle Vue and Leicester when the Watling JCB Lions head to the National Speedway Stadium on Monday, August 20 for what is sure to be a mouth-watering clash.

The Rentruck Aces were scratching their heads after leaving Beaumont Park empty handed, but triumphed at Somerset and Swindon with two impressive wins that netted them 7 league points.

And with the Premiership table becoming more congested and no one team assured of a spot in the top four, they are prepared to give themselves every chance of play off qualification.

Belle Vue are back to full-strength in Manchester with Dimitri Berge set to make his home debut off the back of a very strong opening gambit, with the Lions likewise tracking a complete septet.

Top gun Craig Cook said: “It was fantastic to see the team get back to winning ways. We were a bit deflated after going to Leicester so winning in the way we did was a huge confidence booster.

“The changes made by Lemo [Mark Lemon] have really strengthened us up at reserve, and that in turn has taken the pressure off. There’s a great energy and enthusiasm amongst us.

“Last Monday was just a blip. We’ve proved we’ve still got plenty of gas in the tank to aim for the play offs and that’s just what we intend to do, starting by redeeming ourselves against the Lions.

“I’m sure our results last week won’t have escaped their notice but we cannot underestimate them. We’re still in the hunt for the top four and another win would put us in a great position.”

There’s more speedway action to come this week on Friday, August 24 when the Cool Running Colts welcome close neighbours Buxton to Manchester in another crucial National League clash.

Tickets for both home meetings are now available online at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race night.
