The Gauntlet Is Thrown

Belle Vue face a crucial Bank Holiday double-header against Wolverhampton on Monday, August 27, first in Manchester at 12:00pm ahead of the return fixture in the Black Country at 8:00pm.

The race for the play offs is entering a critical phase as clubs aim to consolidate their position in the top four, but the Rentruck Aces’ recent run of form has shaken the foundations of the table.

Two away wins against Somerset and Swindon, plus their home triumph over Leicester last week, has caused major upset in the higher orders while throwing a lifeline to their play-off ambitions.

And with a renewed sense of confidence both in Manchester and on the road, the Rentruck Aces are throwing all their cards on the table as they bid to hunt down their Premiership rivals.

But they go into both legs without club stalwart Dan Bewley after he crashed heavily at Workington on Saturday, while the Parrys International Wolves sweat on the fitness of Nathan Greaves.

Team boss Mark Lemon said: “There’s no point peaking too early. You’ve got to be peaking at the right time and I think we’re starting to see this team coming good right when we need them to.

“We’ve got to keep the momentum going. The feeling in the pits lately has been calm and relaxed. That has really brought out the best in the team and has been reflected in our recent results.

“It’s put us right back into play-off contention. The boys have thrown us a lifeline thanks to their performances in the last three meetings. There’s a confidence now and we’ve got a lot to fight for.

“Wolverhampton are in a similar position to us and so will doubtless present quite a stern challenge, but we just need to focus on our own strategy and not concern ourselves with their situation.”

The Cool Running Colts face two crucial home fixtures on August 31 and September 7 against the Kent Kings and the Isle of Wight Warriors respectively at the National Speedway Stadium.

The Rentruck Aces meanwhile are next in action against Somerset at home on Monday, September 10, after visiting the Rebels and the Swindon Robins on September 5 and 6 respectively.

Tickets for all three home meetings are now available online at www.bellevueaces.co and at the stadium box office on race nights.
